Phony Silencers As Barrel Extenders

Not to imply you are lieing, but the bore must be continuous from muzzle to bolt face. The cfo will not accept the reclassification if it isnt. A welded on extention does NOT count.

That is in fact the current policy. In the past it was indeed acceptable.

Please note that it is POLICY, not actual LAW, and policy changes like the wind.

If you disagree, please quote the legislation.

The bore doesn't have to be continuous - consider the AR-180B. The integral muzzle brake is smoothbore, but is included in length for determination of non-restricted status.
Or the rifles that have counterbored muzzles. Barrrel length does not change.
Legal barrel length is the length from the closed breechface to the end of the tube.

And as Lee Enfield has stated, it is policy, not law, that precludes a permanently installed extension as being included for legal barrel length.

Until someone challenges the policy in court it matters not if it is policy or legislation, the cfo are the ones that ok a change, if they dont ok it your rebarreled firearm will not change class.

On those, there is no seem in the barrel inside or out.

Yes, the barrel is one piece.
Under the previous policy, I had a M-1 carbine barrel extended by having a rifled extension precision welded in place. It was machined to accept the front sight, including the key slot. Only in the eyes of the CFP would two pieces of steel fusion welded together remain two pieces of steel. Rebarreled the carbine with a commercial 19" replacement barrel.
If a court challenge were to be mounted, a 360 degree welded extension like this one would be the one to use in a test case, rather than something tack welded, pinned and welded or blind pinned.
It is interesting that a silly pop rivet is a permanent modification for magazine limitation, but homogenous steel welding is not acceptable for barrel length.

Thats the problem, not all of them were precision welded, some i have seen were douptful if they were safe to shoot. It would require each one be inspected and verified it was safe.
