How rare are these? I found this one in my cartridge collection the other day and thought I would post a few pictures of it for those that have not seen one before.
The PIAT (Projector, Infantry Anti-Tank) was a 32 pound shoulder fired anti-tank bomb launcher. It could penetrate 4" of armor at about 100 yards.
The bomb was propelled by a combined action fo mechanical thrust from a massive spring (which 225lbs of pressure to ####) and the propellent action of the cartridge which pushed the projectile off the end of spigot while recocking the spring in the launcher.
This cartridge looks to be dated '45.
