PIAT info

Recently saw some WW2 footage of a Home Guard unit firing its spigot mortars. First time I've ever seen photos of these actually being fired. Not sure exactly which model - they were firing prone on a grassy surface. The mortars were not on concrete pillars, as the larger ones were usually mounted.

My dad used to talk about the PIAT, when he was sharing war stories.
I would like to have one of the launchers in my collection, but they are getting pricey now!

My Can Army Father in Law almost lost his right hand to one of those Cartridges that almost went off in barracks...some military demo project, somewhere along the line someone didn't make sure this was a deac'...he managed to throw it out the window in time, but lost the tip of his right index finger. :(

He once said they had cases of the launchers all over the place in the military warehouse...along with lots of other goodies. :)
This would have been back in the early to mid 50's.

Interesting collectible for sure.
