PIAT value

Before the crash of 2008, the PIAT launchers were selling for around $3500, and nice bombs easily fetched $400. After the crash, I picked up a launcher for $1900, and have never paid more than $150 for the bombs. Prices have seemed toclimb back up to almost where they were in 08, so I would suggest you are looking at around $3K for the launcher, and $250-$400 for the bombs. Of course, condition is key to all these prices. If the launcher has it's canvas and slings, then you could be a little above the 3K. If it does not, then maybe a little lower. Same for the bombs. A minty bomb with it's container will be higher than a repainted trainer missing it's nose cap.

If you have a look on collectors source, you will kind of get an idea of some of the price variations.

Interesting on the price. I paid $125 for mine with the practice bomb, but that was a looong time ago.

Apples and oranges John. The US market is totally different from the Cdn market, and the Cdn PIATs do not feature the bore size hole through the side of the tube which is on many or most of the US ones. I have seen PIATs in the US for around $1100-1200 in the past few years while at mlitary conventions, but knowing they were not easily exportable I passed.

Under the recent changes to the Canadian controlled goods regulations, PIATs should no longer be a controlled good, which should make import to Canada easy. However I am unsure if there have been any changes to the US regulations.

The prices I have listed in this thread are not hard and fast of course. There is no PIAT store, and the numbers of sales of items like these are limited. I guess in the end it's: If you figure you need a PIAT, you pay for a PIAT.

Sten collector, NO bore size hole through the side of the tube on mine. However my 2 inch mortar had one (until I had a new barrel made):)

I think it is RIDICULOUS to demill something that live ammo is impossible to find!
Oh. by the way I got a pile of STEN parts out of Canada a long time ago. Got it registered, and rebuilt. Works fine!

My Vickers can shoot 8mm or .303 (Egyptian contract)

PIAT is Projector, Infantry, Anti-Tank. It's the thing the Para's shoot at the German vehicles crossing the Arnhem Bridge in A Bridge Too Far.
The really odd thing is that you can buy an replica in Britain. No w's.

Vehicles (including armoured), howitzers, mortars, launchers etc, they are now only controlling items that were first produced after 1945

Cool. Is there a reference for this? I'm having trouble navigating their website and regs...
