Didn't US SF take in doctored small arms rounds to do this very thing in Vietnam? Eldest Son or something like that. I could be wrong mind.:)

Yes and it was not just small arms the program included everthing from food posioned with botulism to small arms munitions,grenades,mortar rounds and RPG muntions. Mostly all the munitions that the USSR /Warsaw pact and China were suppling the NVA
