So, wanting to add another item to my WWII collection. I already have a 91/30 and the Sniper variant but looking for the carbine now. Here are the choices: Russian M38 or M44, Polish M44 or Finish M39? Which one and why?

M39 hands down is the nicest and rarest of those three. Better made, more accurate, and fewer (by far) were produced or are in Canada.

If you can find a Polish M-44 grab it. They are the nicest M-44 out there. Grab a Russian too if you see one.

M39 would be my first choice it's not really a carbine but its shorter then a 91/30. They are beautiful guns and shoot very well unfortunately they are rather expensive Ive seen them listed at 1000+. Polish m44 would be the next pick they are better quality then the russian made ones since they were made after the war. Third choice would be a m38 in a m38 stock( non refurb it is quite possible since they were meant to be issued to tank crews artillery crews and non combatants )they were made 39 to 44 so quality is better and they made a lot less so they are more collectible in my opinion and you won't have to worry about it being sighted with the bayonet on since they weren't issued with any infant they didn't fit on them.

Way over priced from what I have seen. Even on the EE they typically go for no more then $700.

If you like shooting them, the M39. I have one, it shoots much better than the 91/30. But if you want volume for your collection, get the Russian M38 and M44. You could probably get both for the price of the M39. I got my M39 for $225 because it was advertised with a sewer pipe bore. It did look like a sewer pipe but it was just caked on crap. It cleaned up fine :)
