I got my restricted over a year ago but havent bought a pistol yet. Today I ordered a Browning Buckmark, one of the 2008 S.H.O.T. Show specials

Buck Mark Camper Cocobolo UDX

  • Receiver – Alloy, Matte blued finish; Finger grooves
  • Barrel – Tapered bull 5 1/2”; Matte blued
  • Action – Blowback; Single action trigger
  • Grips – Cocobolo Ultragrip DX®; Ambidextrous; Satin varnish ; Stippled panels with Buck Mark
  • Features – Pro-Target™ rear sight; TruGlo®/Marble’s® fiber-optic front sight
I dont think they're available until later in the spring, but I think it will be a fun plinker!

Looks like a great first pistol. Forget about buying any more long guns for a while. Once you get bitten by the pistol bug it's all over. I have went from zero to six in less than 60 days. Pistol shooting is super fun!

Might as well order yourself at least one wheel gun (might I suggest a S&W 686) and one automatic now cause you are going to want at least one of each real soon.

Let us know how you like the Buck Mark........I just got a Ruger Mark III but I did seriously consider the Buck Mark. I am wondering if I made the right call.

So tell me Todd, Why do you want to shoot with a semi-auto target pistol?

The target does not move?

They certainly do not hide behind cornfeeders...

You have plenty of time to reload...:D

Perhaps you like to blast those evil targets away?:50cal::50cal:

All you need is one shot at a time...sssssooooo why the 10 shot clip? :D

Please do not take this the wrong way, but Tod, do you remember this closely related subject?

I hope some education has happened since our last exchange?

It pays very well in sport shooting here, that we all stick together....
this is my way of kindly reminding you as such....:D

Cheers Tod
PS Nice piece by the way, happy target shooting to you....:) :) :) :)
EDIT: For those of shorter memory I am gently reminding Todd of his prior distaste for semi autos in general, and in a polite manner I must add.....

Very nice looking pistol indeed. Better looking than my Ruger, imo. I'd consider getting one, and also the Buckmark rifle...

That is the first Browning that I have seen that I like, the grip shape is very nice...

Great choice for a first handgun...

Have fun...

You have a nice taste in Handguns.

Here's the one I am currently paying down at the gunstore for my first:

First .22 pistol I ever owned:

Decided the .22 revolver needed a complimentary companion. Since then, I've figured this is about as good looking and good shooting as I have reason to expect, so I imagine it's my last as well. Between that and my Model 17, I think I have the .22 rimfire aspect of handgunning pretty well covered.

Lots of these great old High Standards out there for sale, often at ridiculously cheap prices. Not so many of these sets, however...

A good .22 handgun can keep you honest as to how good a shot you are, Tod... and make you a much better one.
