I picked up a pair of 151m-c's yesterday, one is a beater parts gun and one is in near mint condition with all original sights, sling swivels etc...
I really dig the full-length stock!
Anything to watch for with these guns? I'm gonna strip them down and clean them up today. The beater might be a refinish project...

They are neat old guns, They are pretty simple to work on. I have the 151K and it shoots really well. It has a Weaver scope on it and has taken quite a few rabbits over the years.

Unique internal workings. I have never worked on a semi .22 Quite like this before.. seems pretty much bombproof.

I really love these old Mossbergs. The design and mechanical workings are genius. And my god the bores are just Amazing! These compliment my 146-b nicely. I sense the beginning of a collection coming on...

LOVE the old Mossberg 22's!!!!! Lovely rifles and very well built! The one's that I have shot from my collection are very accurate and run flawlessly. I have 26 and still looking for some of the rare ones!

If your's is a shooter, and it most likely will be, you will be on the hunt for more within a short time! They are very affordable and addictive!!!!!!!!

Cheers,

Ian

Whoa 26? Well done!! Curious what do you consider the more rare ones?

And I agree they'll probably both be great shooters. My 146-b is way more accurate than it has any right to be.

The best thing is, that all of them, except I think the 151M (b), are in near new condition, fully complete with all sights, Sight hoods, sling swivels, hand stops, Lyman sight inserts etc! A couple even have the original hang tags. I have been very picky and have been looking far and wide for excellent examples of the ones that I like. The 151M (b) mentioned above was in good condition with good metal and an excellent bore that I am currently redoing the stock to bring it back to a great example. As it won't be original, It will become a camp gun.

Good score. Nice if you can restore the rough one.
They can be very addicting. I had somewhere around 55 at one point. Narrowed it down to 20 or so now. I have a few of the more rare models 35A-LS(16 made) 2-142M(less than 1000 made),351C Jack rabbit special(kinda looks like a 10-22 a bit. The 144LSB's are crazy accurate. Hard to pick a favorite.

Jebus, you must really like Mossbergs!

All I have is a US property lend/lease to England 42MB, US property 144, and a 44US

I've been prowling, waiting for a nice 144lsb to come along. Every time i see one I have no money though.... My 146-b is more accurate than the CZ's and Savages I've owned over the years, I can only imagine a heavy barrel version with no mag tube would be insane.

I'm torn on what to do with the beat up one I've got. Not sure if I should try and find the missing forestock and metal spacer or just customize it. The bore is immaculate on it, but it has quite a bit fewer grooves/lands compared to the one that's in great condition. I wonder when Mossberg changed up their rifling?

I was lucky enough to have someone bring me a 144LSB that has had less than a box of shells through it and is in as new condition. Got it for way less than I expected to. Did someone cut the stock on the 146b? Pics might help.

Sorry that was confusing, no my 146-b is in wonderful condition. I mean the second 151m that I got, it's missing the front wood and metal spacer. The metal is also rusty and ugly, but the bore is pristine and it shoots great.

Read your post wrong.
I think I have the for-end wood and metal spacer and screw for 151M-C. I will cross check it to my 151 and get back to you. Send me a pic of the rear stock so I can try to match color(light or dark). I have a few for-ends.There were a few models with for-ends and can't remember if they are all the same measurements or not. The measurement from where the metal band lip starts on the rear stock to the hole drilled in the bottom of the barrel is 8 3/4". I have one that is probably going to match your gun pretty good.
