Picked up a decent 1943 Izhevsk TT33 last week.

Yeah, I know, Tokarev's are common as dirt these days, but a call around will tell you most (maybe all?) the ones left at dealers are either 1945 dated (probably post-war) or 1950's dated - definitely post war.

I was happy to locate this nice little matching 1943 example.

Some commercial S&B is inbound, should tide me over until Marstar brings in crates of surplus end of the month.

Nice! Ive got a 39 Tula and I Love it. I can't wait to pick up some surplus ammo for it ! I'm not holding my breath for the end of November though. The wait for that shipment started in May!

Well, I now have a 38 tula en-route (thanks Collector's Source!) and this little puppy arrived in the mail yesterday from Frontier. Oddly I had asked for and was assured it was an Izhevsk (???). It's clearly a 1941 Tula and the fit and finish leaves me to believe pre-invasion manufacture. Nice condition early 1940's bakelite grips too.

I'm not at all unpleased with this revolver, it's all matching in really nice condition and only the trigger and hammer are izhevsk replacement parts, but methinks Frontier needs some education on the difference between the Izhevsk tirangle and the Tula star... ;)

The deals presently available on Russian handguns are just too good to pass up at the moment. Especially on wartime and earlier dates.

Nice looking '36.

I would just LOVE to find a TT30 hidden in the imports. Problem is no Ottawa dealers are stocking the recent imports. I'm in BC in December so hopefully I'll be able to get to some stores for personal hand selects ;)

What's the scoop on the surplus shipment. Not to sound #####y but I remember hearing "end of the month" last May. Think it will actually be here by the end of the month? Or is the new year more likely?

you might want to post that question in the ammo thread in dealer threads by Marstars. john seems to be pretty good about answering reasonable questions

I have your Nagant's younger sister from 1945. :D

In terms of Nagant revolvers, I'd like to find one with original walnut grips with fine checkering that have not been re-checkered to the coarser pattern. I had one like that (1899 Tula) years ago that I foolishly sold.

Oh well I have your handgun twin here, also a 1943 that I got about a couple of years ago :)

Love the snappy round, love to shoot that one. As a left-handed guy though, the lanyard ring kind of gets into the palm of my hand, which is somewhat not that comfortable, but I easily live with it.

I am thinking about a Russian revolver too... probably your fault Claven, :D

Just picked up an all numbers matching, including the two magazines, 1936 Tula from Lever Arms. Almost looks new. Very happy and am eagerly awaiting the surplus shipment as well.

Got mine from Lever as well. Fellas were plenty friendly, but that $20 for hand picking is a bit of a bad joke.

So expect it in early 2011 and if it shows up earlier you can be all excited!

If the Lever handpick fee bothers you, Collector's Source and Tradex (the importer) also offer hand select, but for free, and hte pistols are only $199 so nearly the same price as Lever - but you'll get what you ask for ;)

Frontier will also handpick for you, but as I pointed out, I don't think they can tell what factory is what - they just go by the year on the gun.

Well, I just got my new 1938 Tula TT33 in yesterday. This one has no refurb marks and one of the two mags is number-stamped matching. It has definitely been refinished, but I went over it with a fine tooth comb and the only things I think were ever done to this gun is a hot-dip reblue and the hammer assembly *might* be a drop-in field replacement as the serial number font is slightly different, but it is also 1930's Tula. It's even got its original barrel from 1938, bore about a 9 out of 10.

I'm well pleased and the fit and finish is light years ahead of my 1943.

That being said, I'll bet they both shoot and function equally - when I get to the pistol range next I'll confirm. Pics to follow later today.
