So last week I shot my first round of trap.

I was using my hp-9 with a 14 inch barrel and pistol grip. Wasnt hitting anything. haha. (10 out of 25).

I had a great time none the less, and decided I wanted to turn it into a weekly thing.

So I went out today and bought a 28" Remington express magnum.

It has a choke system built into it. I havent looked at what choke it comes with default, but does anyone have any suggestions on the type of choke I should be running on this for trap?

Thanks for suggestions.

Improved Modified or Full usually work best. Remington's usually come with a Modified tube. Improved Cylinder is good for sporting clays and suffices for skeet. A skeet tube is best for skeet though.

For 16 yard ATA trap Modifed choke is more than enough. I use modified for 16 yard trap or sometimes light modified which is between Improved Cylinder and Modified.

I just shot my first round of trap today as well!

It was a blast (literally)

I missed a lot as well, but it was still pretty cool. A more experienced dude was on hand to offer some pointers. He said my gun was just fine. It's a Winchester 1300 Black Shadow 12 guage pump and he said modified choke is perfect for trap.

After I talked to him, my hits doubled!

Will definitely be going back for more!
