I was at wanstalls when I noticed they had two different styles of SKS stocks that were made by a company called ATI technologies. I was a bit skeptical on how well it would fit together but it was only 60 bucks so I grabbed it. It turned out to work really well for me. One thing I noticed is it didn't come with the parts to make the folding stock actually fold (is that due to our local laws?). Also the rivet/pin holding the gas tube to that wood piece doesn't really want to come out so I just tossed it on like that so I could get pictures. I'm either going to keep working on that part or just sand it and paint it black to match. I wouldn't mind removing the bayonet as well (let me know what the easiest way to do this is). Anyways, overall I think it looks 10x better than it did before and I'm happy with it.

I snapped a couple pics so you could see.

The pin holding the end cap on the gas tube will only come out one way...you have to use a punch and tap it out. Some can be a ##### and some are easy. If you are at a total loss buy the one from ronkytonk....don't wreck the wood by painting it as you may want to put it all back together in its oringinal form at a later date and you'll be searching for a wood handguard that matches.

It is not our laws it is export laws from usa that make those unfoldable. This is why the price of it went down to 60 bucks where Monte Carlo Stock is about $110 range. You could have asked Craig at Wanstalls they could have told you that. By the way they are the easiest going gun owners I know in BC,

They are rather nice there. I've always found the same at international too. Anyways, folding isn't a problem, it was a good price for a good look.

I have the ATI black handgaurd that matches, send me a pm if you are intrested.

It came with one, I just can't seem to remove the pin out of the old one to remove the gas tube.

That pin just DOES NOT want to come out. I figured out that the bayonet is only held on with a one screw though!

If you are looking for the part that will make your stock a folder check out sksman.com , they have the part you want for 8 bucks, they also ship to Canada or just search SKS Retrofit Kit by ATI, tons on ebay. If you are interested Monte Carlo stocks in black they are under 50 bucks.

you are missing pieces !

the stock comes with two option for the folding stock
# 1 - kit for fixed stock
#2 - kit for folding stock

since you got it use, it is probabely monted with the fixed stock kit.

for the hand guard, you are missing a pin, it s no probleme use the one you have with the wood stock. like the guys said, it comes out only one way so be carful.

can I buy one when I am down in the states and bring it back with no hassle?I do like the look of the Choate dragonov stock

I have one ATI folding stock on my D but I don't like it much... It does not lock open very well. It is OK at best... I wish there was a better folding stock out there, preferably one compatible with a telescoping stock...

I contacted combat arms and they will ship a Choate dragunov stock to a US address, where I could pick it up and bring it back with me-I know we can't bring back scopes or barrels or ammunition but I assume there would be no issue with bringing back a rifle stock-can anyone confirm that?

YUCK! Just my opinion, mind you. Do you have any pics of it with the original stock?
My buddy has a Norinco SKS-D model with a similar folding stock on it, but his has the detachable 30 round AK mag. That looks OK, but IMO the Russian SKS with the original 10 round mag just looks silly with an aftermarket stock. Plus, what would Simonov think?
Sorry, I'm somewhat of a purist when it comes to MilSurps....:nest: No offense meant to anyone

You can bring ammo back under 5000 rounds for personal use. Contact Canadian border and ask about barrels and scopes. Scopes are probably allowed. barrels not sure.
Ammo 100% sure as long as they are not prohib!
