Hey everyone.

Over the weekend I picked up a Savage 24c. .22lr over 20gauge. Saw it on one of those Facebook gun groups, and went and got it. I didn't even know this gun existed.
I had it out, shot it a few times, and overall its a nice little gun.
It's all there, even came with the original case, and locks up nice and tight.
The target in the picture was on a dead stump at 25 yards, at 50-60 yards (i roughly paced it out) the 20 gauge slugs were shooting a few inches high, but otherwise not bad.
Not really asking any questions or anything, just showing off!

I love the 20ga combo guns, specially the camper edition. i can't wait (crossing my fingers that it might actually happen) for the new model 42's to come in 22/20ga or 22wmr/20ga. It's nowhere near the same quality as the wood older models, but still something i'd like to get.

My idea of the ideal survival rifle. ;) Good to see you have the original carrying case complete with leather tie thongs for it as well.

Grizz

Yep shes all there. The best part is, the missus likes to shoot it, so I think its going to be a gift to her when she completes her PAL course next month.

Neat! Looks to be in good shape, too. Good find. I have used a 24H-DL .22/20ga. for many, many years.

A great debate ensued when I told a fellow gunner that I had a 24C. "Oh, a Camper," says he. "No. It is a 24C-DL, .22mag over 20 ga, but not a Camper model," says I.

He had always presumed that all 24C's were Camper models. I didn't know one way or the other, but now we do!

The most desired ones seem to be the 22lr/410. I have seen the older ones in that, go for $350-500. Seen them offered with many BTT in the EE for that. Try the online site of Elwood Epps in ontario. They have enough new and used in stock that there may be a comparable offered.

The new Savage(Baikal) 42, new/retail are offered for $400-$460, and only in the most popular 22/410, so because it is so different i dont know if that is relevant.

I would think that you could easily get $3-400 for it, especially in the shape and complete as it is. It all depends on finding the right person, and how serious you are about moving it or making a profit on the trade.

THanks for the info nowasrningshot. I saw that one on the EE a while back, I'd be curious as to what he got for it.

I thought I would use this little gun more, but I always seem to go back to my 870.

The .22 on her is pretty good. A scope would be great on this thing, but then it defeats the purpose of the break down, and it won't fit into its carrying bag.

These sell well. I wouldn't be surprised if it would bring $400-$450, although the cylinder bore barrel isn't a strong point.

In my eyes the 22/20 is more prefered. The ability to take small game with the rimfire barrel and a backup of a considerably good sized shotgun slug is a good double whamy IMO.

Especially with the increasing numbers of apex predators hereabouts.

my 2 bits
