Christen Arms MPR in 7mm PRC. Waiting for the weather to get above -20 to be able to test the barrel out. I have a Benchmark Heavy Varmint contour Stainless Steel barrel waiting to replace the Carbon Fibre barrel just in case. The scope is the trusty Burris Veracity PH 5-20x50 that does all my calculations for me out to 1400m, which is fine since this will generally be shooting under 1200m for most competitions I plan on doing.

Nice gun! Definitely update us on it.
My favourite gun in my collection is my MPR. It gets carried on every single hunt.

Congrats sir !

Finally got to take the rifle out today. I have to say, I am disappointed. This is the 5th MPR I own and the only one that doesn't shoot for sh*t. All my other MPR will do Sub MOA all day long no matter what factory ammo I run through them, this one on the other hand 1.5-2 MOA no matter what I do. Ran both ELD-X and ELD-M through it.

This reflects what I have heard from a few others who had recently purchased an MPR.

And the opposite experience for me. I have one that is crazy accurate and reliable and several friends picked one up after me in various calibres and everyone loves theirs…

Mine harvested my sheep, moose elk and bear all in a season and a half.. shoots a 4 inch gong at four hundred yards consistently.

After several CGNers experience with Christiansen Arms, I don't believe in them. They made some AR's where the bolt release housing (a little nub housing the axle for the release paddle) broke off the lower receiver - pretty much an unfixable problem, then there's the barrel issue.

After Bartok 5's experience with Christensen and one of there carbon fibre barrels, I do not believe in carbon fiber barrels.

I'm not a fan of carbon fibre barrels myself, the only reason I got one is CA doesn't make the MPR with a steel barrel for some reason. We will see if warranty does anything for the barrel or not.

Friends dont let friends buy Christensen Arms. The amount of people I know who have problems I wouldn't touch one with a ten ft pole

I have to say, that 99% of the problem with CA rifles is they aren't properly bedded from the factory (this is for their hunting stock models, not the MPR). Generally with accuracy issues they are bedded and then they are perfect. The "first gen" FFT rifles had an issue with the stocks not being made correctly and were recalled.

The MPR rifles seem to have problems when you go to their magnum calibers. Short actions seem to never have an issue but all the problems with any MPR were always in the magnum caliber.

This is coming from someone who used to work at the warranty center.

As for my rifle, there is still no word on it so waiting patiently.

I just got an MPR in 6.5 cm, up there for the most accurate factory barrel I’ve had. Carbon barrels are really hit and miss, had a fierce barrel that was realistically a 6 moa rifle. Fixed it with a Bartlein carbon.

OP, you sound experienced so you probably don’t need advise but try a Berger or some other proper match bullet before giving up. I used to be a hornady guy but ever since the Amax I find Hornady shoots like sh!t.

Seven months later my patience would’ve ended long ago. There’s no excuse for this kind of action or rather lack of. Youve sold me on never buying anything from them. Best of luck
