Hey guys,

Just a quick question. Do you settle for whatever SKS you get when you are purchasing or do many shops let you pick what you want? My LGS, who I know has many in the back of their store lets me look at maybe 3 before he starts to get skeptical about showing me any more. I don't know if they think I am looking at some sort of rare variant or what, but all I am looking for is one with the best wood possible. And I know I am spending about $50 more than what I could get them for online. Am I asking a lot for them to show me a selection? I do like there business as I bought 2 SKS's, an SVT40 and 2 RC K98's from them within the last 14 months, but think I am going to Westrifle for my final purchase as my son already laid claim to my laminated SKS. What is your expectation from a dealer when you are buying.

I got one at Westrifle. It's ok, but I broke my cardinal rule. That is; never buy a firearm without holding it in your hands and inspecting it. I had some surprises with the one I bought sight unseen. My second SKS was purchased so I could inspect it. I field stripped it and looked it over. It looked really good... I bought it. I will never, and I mean never buy a refurb or used firearm sight unseen again.

My 2 cents.

I had the exact same experience. DO NOT buy a rifle with it coming out of the box and inspected by yourself. DO NOT!

I picked out my first had lots of time, it was on sale for $169, picked a beauty...

Second one was a door crasher xmas sale from ISS in surrey for $149.... so busy you pretty much had to take what they brought you... however they'd mentioned they had black bayo in the ad so I rejected the first one being it was silver... stock was nice but I didn't really care since it was going in a Tapco stock... looks great, black on black

Dec 6th they are having another sale on SKS's same price as last year $149..... great price, I'll be getting my third

When I bought my second one I must have sent the sales guy into the back 6 or 7 times till he came out with one I liked. He seemed kinda annoyed but they weren't busy so I didn't care. Hey it's my money so I want to be happy. YMMV

When I buy premium rifles from Westrifle, there is no need to inspect them prior to purchase. They are exactly as perfect as they were presented. I've directly and indirectly picked up dozens of rifles from them. I've never had a complaint of the rifle being less than it was described as.

West rifle takes many close up pics so you can pick your rifle online. I have never been disapointed with any rifle I bought from them. In fact, they all wound up being spectacular, and pristine.
They are all hand picked right from the salt mines they are stored in.

AL, at Westrifle and Martin at Corwin Arms have handpicked some beauties for me in the past... They want you to be happy with your purchases. The only places I would by my Soviet rifles from.

If you've bought a bunch of rifles from them in the last 14 months they should suck it up and let you look at as many as you want, till you find the one you want to buy. Simple as that, I always treat repeat work clientele well. They are why I can pay my bills and I appreciate that and them.

My westrifle sks is a beauty. I like the fact that theres no #########x on the stock like my first sks had.

I did pretty much the same thing, except it was back upstairs 3 times to pick different ones. they told me there were no more up there after that. well sir, how about letting me go up there to look for you then? :D I bought a hardwood and a laminate. the lam was 20 bucks more for 199. both are in nice shape. all matching numbers except the mags :runaway: meh. doesn't affect the shooting for me.

I am confused you did not like the one you bought from us. You could have shipped it back to us and got a refund. All of our Sks have 5 pictures on the bottom of the page. I also answer all questions before you buy Sks from us.

What I don't understand is why businesses don't do what Grouse River goes. They put the whole crate of SKS out on the floor and you can dig though the crate and decided which one you want.

Because someone always wants one on the bottom. And they litter the floor with all the others and walk away when the one in the bottom wasn't what they wanted.

Saw it happen. Guy walked right out of the store when he was done pawing at them all and staff went to putting them away. Oh, and the barrel sweeping was awesome.

Some people ruin it for everyone.

Wholesale sports let a buddy sort through 2 crates for me after they got sick of bringing em crap which we just continued to send back lol.

out of 2 crates he found 3-4 decent guns 2 izzies that apparently they wouldn't sell.

1 fully matching serial Hardwood Tula with all the stamps ect. and another tuly with non matching serials .

I took the full matching hw rifle.

was quite a operation lol.

Will be in my possession friday
