Heading over east of Edmonton Monday to pick up 22 completed mounts from my last South African foray. 4 life mounts and 18 shoulder mounts (I think). This is the first time I've used this taxidermist but did look at a lot of his work before giving the go ahead. I guess we'll see. I'll take photos before we pack them all into the trailer and hopefully post them when I get back Thurs or Fri.
The lifesize are nyala, bontebok, bushbuck and warthog. Two of the tally are #2 son's first big? game, a shoulder mount warthog and steenbok.

After your 2nd or 3rd wife, you'd figure it out...;)

22 mounts?
I figured a Winchester, maybe an old Cooey collectable, maybe a 490 or two,
but 22 furs?
Hence the 22 foot ceilings.
If you can row'em, fack, stack'em.
Best you burn sum SD, CD or some sort of cards and post'em.............

These are just the mounts from one hunt, I already have another 70 some odd plus my Congo hunt and another SA hunt still coming with another 12 or so animals. Blargon has it about right, on my third wife............my mounts will be mine till death do us part.......wives, well what can I say.
As far as work, I am officially semi retired but have worked hard all my life (40 years) to get where I'm at today, started and built up 3 businesses over the years and am finally enjoying the fruits of my work. Actually I've been enjoying my hunting all my life and my Congo hunt was my 7th trip to Africa, several trips to Asia and Europe as well as all over North America and first trip to Australia in Sept. This is Canada, work hard and be smart and everything and anything is possible, no one is holding you back. The only limit to your wealth is you, you can be whatever you want and can make as much money as you want or as willing as you are to work for it. My advice to young guys as far as success goes is easy.......work hard, be smart and seize opportunities. Have confidence in yourself and strive to be the very best at whatever you do..........Go where your skills/trade is in demand and work HARD. You too can succeed, this is Canada and nothing is holding you back but fear. END LECTURE
I intend to fill my new trophy room until it is over stuffed and I'll have to block off the 2 windows for more wall space!!

I believe these were taken in 2010, not real fast them taxidermists. Actually one guy had 'em for about a year and a half and then informed me he couldn't do them so he arranged for another guy to do them and it has only been about 6 months since the trade off.

On a large order like this it is normally a year plus............I've learned to be patient, but I make it known that the quality had better be outstanding and I'll never push for a completion date. Hell, I don't even have my elephant feet from 2008 yet............patience is a virtue, right?

It would seem the wife has finally made up her mind where she wants to spend her birthday, first Australia, then Tanzania, then not, now back to Oz.........got me scrambling. Now to see what I can arrange there for Sept.
I'll be PMing you Dogleg, if she don't change her mind again..........

Wow that'll be quite the collection. I did the whole trophy mount thing 40+ years ago... I had a life sized bear, numerous bear rugs, many deer, antelope, caribou and moose shoulder mounts, wolf rugs, life sized lynx many waterfowl and game birds... but I got tired of looking at them and dusting and maintaining them... I have decided that a couple pictures and the memories are enough for me. I gave everything away to friends and lodges across the province and a couple outdoor stores... I'll let others appreciate the ambiance they create... the older I get the more I want to simplify life and declutter... but that is just me... I do appreciate the pics and trophy rooms of others... the stories behind them even more... I would like to see more written accounts of hunting adventures with accurate details and good story telling, to capture the feel of the hunt... I love the old safari tales and the massive treks that were made around the turn of the century (the other century)... Looking forward to your pics... that new trophy room sounds like a dandy... guess who is hosting every gathering of your circle of friends!

Yes it really is ... I usually am very patient and the guy does great work and is very trust worthy so I don't want to push him. Ive already waited 13 year to get a buck of this calibur on Van Isl , another year shouldn't hurt but ... The anxiety is killing me lol

Patience my friend the pics are coming, I haven't even seen them myself......I just jumped the gun starting this thread, trying to whet your appetites for the big photo array later this week.

618 views to date about 100 of which are me hoping to see the photos.
This thread is driving me nutz, Gun Nutz.
Post the pictures sometime soon please, before I go over the deep end.
