I noticed there's a spare parts kit available, tools and tool holder, are these necessary, good to have or not important? Also regarding the dies, do they ever wear out to the point where you need a new set, and if so roughly how many rounds would that be?

I run 2 of the and the allen keys that came with them, just sit on the shelf for when I need them. I think you have to get the strong mount to mount them. After several thousand rounds, I've only changed plastic end on the primer tube. You won't wear the dies out.

1) The spare kit is nice if you absolutely can't wait for Dillon to replace the part free charge.

2) You'll need some tools but not theirs specifically.

3) Note that the SDB uses proprietary dies. You will probably die before you wear out a die.

4) You'll still need to buy many other reloading tools/accessories (scale, tumbler, calipers etc.).

I have one that I bought used. I've had to go back to Dillon twice for parts so far. They send them for free and they take about a week to arrive.

The Allen keys are nice, good quality, but not necessary.

The dies are carbide so no, they won't wear out.

I recommend a spare shellplate bolt. Dillon will send you a replacement if yours breaks but the wait can be painful. The bolt should be in the parts kit.

That's perfect, thx for the info! Yeah I've pieced together most of the other equipment I needed, went with an ultrasonic instead of a tumbler though.

Lots of good info above already, I run two SDB's, one set up for large primers, one set up for small primers. I would get the spare parts kit just to keep your press up and running while waiting for warranty parts to come in. In the 18 years I have run these presses I have gone through a few of the blue and red primer tube ends, and lost the little detent ball under the shellplate a couple times. A 0.177 bb works just as well for the detent ball, but buy some extra tube ends.

I have just purchased a Squair Deal D in August unfortunely a small part was missing( Part that connects the spent Primer cup to the machine, also this connects to the Powder dispenser so with out it I'm screwed). Contacted Dillon by phone they immediately sent out the part that was August 3,2020 still haven't got it. I got the Coved 19 excuse
It was held in LA for 3 weeks . Hope to get it next week.

Have loaded a LOT of 9mm and .38SP on the SDB. Have replaced the synthetic ram guides, the pawl actuating screw, a rotor screw and the priming tube tips. Dillon does respond quickly, but it is a good idea to have some spares on hand, rather than waiting for parts.

Well worth it to have at least one full spare parts kit on hand. Cheap insurance. It has saved the wait on parts several times for me. Lost locator buttons, stretched springs, spare priming arms..... All worth having multiples on hand. Keeps things rolling smoothly

Absolutely yes to the spare parts kit . You’ll really appreciate it when you need one of those parts . As mentioned already a few parts come to the top of the short list.

A note about Dillon customer service : I bought my Square deals used from a CGN member. Covered in 20 years of dust , missing parts it was part of an estate sale. I had a friendly phone conversation with a tech that does the rebuilds on them , because that’s who they connected me with. Payed their nominal fee for a rebuild servicing as per recommendation and sent it off to them with a note to him , by name.

A few weeks later , exactly as advertised I received the box back. I’m still into this for less than a new one. I open the box to find a brand new Square Deal B complete with spare parts kit all nestled into my original equipment box with form fitted styrofoam. How many companies out there do that ?

This thing runs my 9mm loads like a dream . Each and every time I use it. 15,000 and counting.

Happy loading.
