Picking up your Brass in IPSC competion.

I was looking at shooting .45, I have just purchased a new Remington R1 enhanced. I may have the option of dropping down to a 9mm but would like to stay in .45 if I could. More fun :)

When I was running matches I used to aim for 8-10 shooters per squad and shooters were told to either have a friend pick up brass during the scoring or wait until the squad was finished (if the next squad wasn't waiting). People who wanted their brass usually got 90+% of it handed to them immediately after scoring was finished.

i used to shoot 38 super open division and always was being a brass hound. looking at the ground for that precious brass. Having gone over to the dark side and shooting production, i now feel sorry for the the guys scrounging their brass, shooting no longer gets to be fun and it's a matter of recovering as much of yours and others brass becomes the prime directive. Looking for and picking up brass is one less person helping to reset and patch targets. I know, been there, done that.

Practice i pick up my brass, at a match i would rather stay focused on what's going on. Watch other better shooters on my squad, ask questions and learn.
I chalk the loss of my brass up to the cost of learning.
