Pics from the Last Swiss Shoot At Connaught

Looks interesting. Can you tell us more about it. What type of competition was it? Rifles used? sights? Looks like it was last Summer.

The two shoots you could do were were both at 300m.

"A" Program, 10 shots slowfire on an Swiss A10 target(ISSF 300m Target),
10 x 10pts= 100pts
Winner had 92 pts

"B" Program, 6 shots slowfire and 6 shots timed fire in 60 seconds Swiss A10 target, 12 x 10pts=120pts
Winner had 109pts

Swiss A10 target is:
X ring is 5cm diameter = 2 inches±
10 ring is 10 Cm diameter = 4 inches±
9 is 20cm
8 is 30cm
7 is 40Cm
6 is 50cm....etc
Black of target starts at 5 ring= 23.6 inches

Ammo used was from same lot of 1984 GP11.

Rifles were all Swiss K31s. All rifles except mine had Swiss W&F diopters, mine had a St.Marie diopter

It was on June 9, 2007, at Connaught.

Did I miss anything? :)

Diopter, thank you so much for these pics! Way back about 35 years ago, I pulled targets at Connaught for a week during the competition that led up to the Governer Generals Match. My Dad got me the job, (he was competing) and for a week I slept in Army tents and ate mess hall food, and pulled targets in the hot sun at the 300 and 1000 yds ranges, and I had the time of my life! How many kids can say they know the sound of bullets going over their heads? In fact, I still remember being target #71 on the 1000 yd range. Back then, they had cadets doing targets 1-50, and the rest were done by various "civvy" kids like me whose fathers were in the forces. I think we got paid something like $5.00/day.
Some things are different, I see: (portapotties for one), and the score indicators that used to be on the side of the target frames that went up as you pulled the target down... I don't see those anymore there.
Anyway, I sat thru all 168 pictures and got a real lump in my throat over all the great memories you brought back... I really miss my Dad right now, but it's all good- again, thanks for bringing all those good times back :)

If pm or email to me your mailing address, I'll mail you a cd with all the pictures. I tihink we might have met at the Vancouver Swiss club a couple years ago for the October Schützenfest. You or your brother had a Martini action .22 target rifle?

Yes, one of my my brothers (from Langley) had a BSA .22 with a Martini action, and traded it to another brother ( from south of Edmonton) for an Anschutz. We may well have met, and I hope to meet you again, as I plan to be at this year's Schutzenfest. I wasn't able to make it to last year's, as I was vacationing in the States at the time.
I'll pm you my email address, but I did save the web address for the slide show you posted. In fact, I sent the link to my brothers so they could see it too. :)
