PICS OF ATR rifles POST'EM

That must be that new "wide open aperature" concept I read about somewhere.
hafta try that - or not!!:D

Cat, you really should come out to Summerland and get a taste of longe range. You're on the Fort Mac board aren't you?? From the sounds of grumbling from Fort Mac, the extention is a stalemate. With the dropzone that the Fort Mac range has coupled with the money that flows there, I fail to see how that range is not paved out to a mile. Then my open aperature concept WOULD have to be replaced with something worthy of seeing that distance.

If people would come to the meetings every second Thursday( the same time every month for the last 10 years) they would find out that it is not a stalemate, that it is in fsct in the works.
The problems are many, getting time to work on it and getting irons being only two.

Ground problems eliminate working on it in the summer months.

We are presently getting waiting on info to get $ from the ABPRA,and figuring out how to do the buitts, wehtaer ot not we are going with traditional butts or a camera system.

FWIW I myself have been shooting from 400 to 1 mile for about for quite some time at the Outpost of the Empire range with optics, and past 1K with irons, with modern and BP cartridges, (inlcuding the 45/70 and the .303 British)is nothing new to me.
I use both lasers and a Barr and Stroud range finder to get my distances.
In the mid 90's before I got the Barr and Stroud we used two GPS's but found we were actually shooting the 6.5WSM and the 338 lapua longer that we though after we got the other instruments.
I shot my first 900 yard target with irons in 1966 BTW.

I have a very limited schedule so only get out of town for three matches a year, and that time is spoken for.

Here they are. I just picked them up. The paint is still a little tacky but nothing is sticking to them so all is good.

The bigger of the two is the 338LM AI and the other is my long awaited 308win. Tomorrow they hopefully go to get lazer engraved for this weekends Calgary Gun Show.

Man, the paint job looks low rent:nest: You should have let LRC paint them for you:stirthepot2::D

Here are a couple of pictures of a .50 Cal Rick put together.. I have it in for scope mounting and a few cosmetic adjustments... and that's a dummy in the breech...

I can't wait to see how load developement goes. The gun looks great. With the Nightforce you've got mounted, you'll have tons of elevation to get out to some crazy distances. Recoil should be, I'd guess .243ish.
