This is the new (to me) MG34 I picked up from Marstar a couple weeks ago :) And yes, it's one of the ones that goes bang - not a dewat :)

I realize these snapshots are not all that great, but best I could do with indoor lighting on short notice :(

Better pics to follow in due course :)

VERY!!!! Sweet Claven! Congrats! Onec you have fired one of these gems in any capacity, you will fall even more deeply in love! This one looks like a beauty for sure, thanks for the pics

The sad thing is I have enough belts now to fire 750 continuous rounds, but only half that much live ammo :( I do have three baskets (2 WW2 and a Yugo) and a WW2 carrier and enough ammo to fill all three, but only two proper starter tabs.

Once you get one of these, the accessories are what kills ya ;)

Cleaned my Yugo gunner's kit tonight. It was FILTHY. Bag was soaked in cosmolene and old dried kerosene(?) I'm guessing the petrol can leaked at some point. Had to soak the whole thing in Oxy-clean to make it presentable ;) The barrel mit was also ridiculously filthy - it got the same treatment. Hopefully after the stuff is dry it will still look ok. Be forwarned if you order a MG34 gunner's kit from Marstar, they are nice, but cleaning the stuff can take some effort ;)

Actually, brass drops out the bottom of the MG34 action, and I do have a correct brass catcher en-route. The basket, if anything, will be to collect the belts which stream out the side ;)

hows the trigger on that beast the last "new" semi Mg 34 I played with had a trigger pull of around 15lbs the old fingers were getting tired before the belt was done

Yes, I shoot at EOHC and will be at the milshoot as usual (barring any unforseen circumstances). I won't likely be competing with the MG34, though I might bring it for show and tell. Can you imagine trying to snap shoot with a crew served machinegun? I sure can't - at least not without several decades worth of effort and steroids at the gym.

The trigger is somewhere between 15-20 lbs, not unlike many originals. I've looked at the trigger mechanism and I'm confident it can be stoned much lighter, though I haven't looked at getting it done yet.

And one final word. I've gotten several PMs from ppl with very low post counts telling me either:
a) you can't have an MG34 - that's an illegal full auto! or
b) Wow - where can I get a live full auto MG34??? I want one but thought they were prohib!?!

Sorry to disapoint guys, but this is NOT a full-auto machinegun. It is SEMI-AUTOMATIC only. It is a non-restricted rifle, just like your Remington 742. One pull of the trigger = one round fired. It is NOT illegal anymor than your 742 is, so please stop pm'ing me with stupid comments.

the only thing preventing me from getting one is i don't have a couple of grand to "pump" into a gun at this time- that and fact that's it's 8mm - not exactly easy to come by out this way-

Re: Ammo, Any thought to getting a spare barrel reamed for 7.92x63 Swedish? Seems that would solve the ammo problem for now - at least while Marstar still has stock. (Maybe we can talk them into bringin 10 cases to the shoot. I'd be in for half that) Is the action robust enough for the cartridge? Barrels seem not to be much of a problem. Thoughts?
