Pics of my dot43 MG34 (UPDATED - Dialup beware!)

Yeah, reloading. Commercial S&B and Igman. There is some surplus floating around, but the sellers are asking Igman prices for corrosive berdan primed ammo, which is INSANE. You could also import the ammo from the US, up to the max allowable personal amount - assuming you do proper export paperwork. US prices are like $.15 a round or less.

I believe the can is Yugo but I think they made a lot of the accessories postwar on German machinery, and the handle was put on to carry it by the previous owner, don't know what from though?

It looks "bren-ish" to me. Never seen one fitted to an MG34 before. If you ever get a TNW receiver, you've probably got most of the stuff to make a viable semi there ;)

J&G Sales in Arizona was selling the 300 round German WW2 battle packs of ammo for 7 cents a round (or $21 USD for 300 rounds) a few years back. Crazy the prices we pay!

Just switched to a new DT image :)

Here was the old one (PC version, but same pic on my mac):

and here is the new one :)

Glad to see what that 8mm Mauser you wanted is going for now :) Very pretty. 750 round continuous belt would still take a bit of time with semi-auto and that horrible trigger pull :) Can you say blisters? ;)

It's a 34 though. I was under the impression the single shot trigger stage wasn't as bad?

Klunk, you sure it isn't your monitor? The color is just fine on both my LCD PC and LCD laptop? I even had to de-saturate it a bit in photoshop.

And anyway, the only way I'd get more fill flash indoors would be to invest in dual off-camera bounce-flashes or lens-mounte twin flash guns. Either solution is in the thousands of dollars and not very likely.

It's a prety heavy trigger, probably 15 lbs or more. That being said, the gun is so heavy that the trigger pull isn't causing the gun to move about ;)

I'm sure the pull can be lightened, just need to stone the sear a little.

Yes :) About as much fun as you can legally have with your clothes on and it groups like nobody's business, even on rapid fire through a whole belt :)

PS: there's video too! Notice the dust and debris cloud at the backstops. Priceless.

The target with me giving the thumbs up was shot rapid-fire through the MG34. For a machine gun, it's deadly accurate.
