I like to see range reports like this. This tells me someone is working in less then ideal conditions. This guy belongs on the forum.

nice! that's ####ing awesome. god I love S&B scopes, they take a lot of the work out of it don't they?
man seeing that I need an ATV so I can do the same thing.

This is the single finest thing I have ever seen on this website....And I've been looking for a while!
Hardcore long range shooting at it's very best...I love it!

Great shooting in crappy conditions!...Well done Silverfox!

I thought I was the only idiot that did this stuff! :D:D

I would love it if we could post more pictures of less than ideal shooting days...I for one will bring my camera on my next "sideways rain" day.

Thanks guys, I wish i could go shooting with all of you.

Re. the cheekpiece question; Its an option on the mcmillan A-5 when you order it . So i think it would require lots of work to put one on, there are other easier styles out there.

Shooting at long and unknown ranges is the ultimate challenge for me. Your rifle and body position have to be pretty much perfect. If its not you cant range cuz your shaking, you cant see your hits cuz your rifle moves, expecially on a s**tty surface like a frozen truck bed, your parallax is all distorted, your neck hurts.

Then the ranging, a 12" target that measures .5 mils is 666 yards, .4 mils is 833 yards . So IMO a the smaller the target the tougher it is to range and to hit , obvious i guess.

So far you have fairly good data to go with but throw in the wind and things can turn ugly. You must be confident of your rifles accuracy, your reloading and your ranging. Like i said earlier if you cant see your hit your screwed.

I was dealing with 8 o'clock winds from 5 (.7 mills)to 15 mph (2.1 mils) @ 800 yards, with gusts in between. I would get one hit , win condition being different at the target, then miss right.

It blows my mind when guys can get a cold bore hit first shot, it takes mad skills, especially when it must be done quickly. IMO the only solution is practice, practice, practice.. Compete, compete, compete.., and share knowledge.

Cheers guys, happy holidays

Awesome shooting. How much does a rig like cost and how long did it take to get made?

Silverfox,
Great set up - there is nothing like shooting out at those distances.
The real challenge is the wind not the distance.
