Hey,

Here are some pics and a vid from my first range trip with my new SKS.

The gun and all accessories were purchased from Moreguns Supply (ki11ercane)

1. Thanks - it's Silverdale Gun Club in Smithville, ON
2. There was actually a #### tonne of spent brass there - especially 7.62. My buddy and I picked up way more than we shot and put in garbage - just to clean it up a bit. Wish everyone did that.
3. Ahahah....actually just the stock is Tapco. The rest of the accessories I got are NcStar (bipod, and a scope mount and scope/rings i havent installed yet). I do have 2 5/20 tapco mags enroute though.

:dancingbanana:

which bipod is that and where does it mount?? would you recommend it? built solid? im thinking of picking one up for my sks

Greetings,

Been thinking about getting one of these packages myself. How is the accuracy? May go coyote hunting with the brother in law over the winter and was wondering if this would fit the bill?

Thanks,

Matt

It's the NcStar AK/SKS bipod. It clamps to the barrel and it work ok. But I would look at something nicer to do it again. It's pretty cheap....but it works.

How many yards would you be hunting out to? The SKS isnt a sub MOA hunting rifle, but it rather designed to hit a person sized target at 100-200m.

I have to adjust my sights as i was high and right at 100yards (but still on the paper) but my groups were pretty tight. Sorry i didnt keep any targets to show

Good to know the grass is still green at Silverdale... I miss that place. The closest small bore range here is Bisley, and that's two hours away.

All you have to do now is remove that stupid plastic 'picatinny' 'rail' on the handguard and you're good to go. I found it was making using the irons too difficult.

Front sight too fat for you? Remove it with the front sight tool, don't have one? Use pliers. Chuck the front sight in a drill on the threaded end (carefully), and using a file and rotating action of the drill, you can narrow the sight down as much as you like. Cold blue, re-install, and you're good to go.

Rear sight wobble side to side? Take a hammer and flat faced punch and peen over the insides of the sight base. That will make the rear sight nice and tight so it won't wobble between shots.

No need to waste money on stupid accesories. You spent enough on the tapco stock. :p I was lucky enough to get my SKS for $75 from a co-worker and the tapco for about $80. I'm still ahead of the game. I'll have to bed it when I get back for giggles.

Enjoy!

no i just need to actually adjust the front sight. its shooting high and right...so i need to move the post up and to the right with the adjuster tool.

or make my own out of a c-clamp

Naturally.

I find the front sight too fat for target shooting purposes, so I narrowed mine down. Not to shift the POI, but to make aiming easier. I recommend it to everyone with an SKS. Did the same with my Mosin.

YMMV.

LOL. I noticed the same thing too. Seems like they hired someone to sweep the firing line every 30 minutes. Our range looks like a dump in comparison.

hmmm looks like you got one of the black bolt painted sks's like mine. I left the bolt and carrier in butch's bore shine over night and all the paint came off while brushing it! oops. might polish the metal now to make it nice and shiny.

Think im gonna turn mine into a project gun and get the dragunov stock, bipod and maybe drill in a scope mount

Yep it is a russian refurb. Quite a number of refurbs are painted instead of re-blued. I think it actually looks better especially when all tacticool'd out like I have it.

I won't be polishing anything.
