I recently bought this old 22 semi and it is the best shooting 22 I’ve ever shot! I put it in a vice and shot about 6 rounds into paper at 50 yards and got a unbelievable groups (just over 1")which says a lot considering the gun was being held by a big towel in the vice. Now I’m confident that if i put out the money for mounts that it'll be a good gun and it cycles fast as hell and holds 16 rounds in the tube!

I can't seem to find a mount for this as I’m told it's like 50 years old. It has tappings as seen in the pics but I was told they are for a peep mount. Anyone mounted anything similar or can help me out with a custom mount info?
I think it's a savage.

Thanks fellas.
Mike

Well i found out that the rear holes were for a peep sight from the guys at rimfire.com and the fronts MAAAAAY be for a scope mount. I've called everywhere (ok 3 places) to ask about scope mounts and everyone tells me there is no info in their computers on a mount.

Here's a pic from "rimfire" of the rear peep.

I think it is a Stevens, I guess an 87, obviously made for Monkey Ward. It could take a bit of searching, but a Weaver Type N mount will have been made for it. Now, most Type Ns take 3/4" scopes, so you may need to look for a vintage scope. This would be entirely in keeping for the rifle.
If you want to mount a 1" scope, a Weaver #2 sidemount base could be fitted. Don't know if the holes in the base would work, or not.
Or, the top of the receiver could be drilled and tapped for a modern base, and rings of your choice could be used.

You really know your stuff. I e-mailed weaver and this is the short response i got.

"""The Weaver Side Mount # 2 48402 along with the Side Mount Rings 49350."""

Dead on brother. Thanks for the help all. I'm dying to see how this shoots with a scope. If it's no good, i needed a new hammer/ pry bar anyway.:D
