So the first day out shooting with my son went great! He was very safety oriented and remembered all the drills and rules we practiced at home. He was a hell of a shot for his first go as well :) Mom took some professional pics (that is her trade) and Dad took some cell shots and video...here he is in action:

Is he a lefty or righty.....shooting righty w the 22 w a backwards grip.

Left handed, right eye dominant. Looks like he has figured it out on his own, the advantage of starting young. No preconceived notions of what is right, just what works.

In the first pic you can see him looking down the sights primarily with his right eye.

That is exactly what I was looking for. .. for him to find his own natural positions. Being a righty I didn't want to cramp his style.

I've seen many shooters struggle with being opposite handed vs dominant eye. Often it is because they try to force themselves to shoot with their weaker hand to stronger eye, or weaker eye to stronger hand. It can be even harder to teach if you don't recognize it is happening. It looks like you've got him on the right track. At this stage as long as he is having fun and his body position isn't unsafe, just unorthodox, I'd say let him push on.

Good job raising your boy right.

Look at that face of determination:)! Brings back memories of my "little-guy" starting off(19 now).
Get him used to wearing his "eyes"…..
