Post your pictures of the SVT-40 or SVT-38 during the World War II!

Here is one to start:

It seems a German soldier (not sure - if anyone can confirm it) so it's must be a captured rifle...

Definitely serving in/with the German Army... Perhaps not ethnically German though... (Notice the arm patch)

But yeah, Splinter Zeltbahn in the background, German ammo cans, and German uniform... it's a captured rifle.

Edit: It looks like he might be a member of the Legion Azul (Blue Division) that Franco set to fight in Russia against the Bolsheviks.

So yeah, a Spaniard with an SVT!

Some Finns with SVT 40s and 38s. Most have been posted before, but they are all still nice to see again.

The fellow on the right of the colour photograph is the spitting image of Leonard Nimoy (Mr. Spock from Star Trek)!

Seems like the russians would have made a killing in exporting that rifle to other countries!
But then those countries would have made a killing of russians...

While not a milsurp or Russian firearms guy I do own a number of SVT40 rifles. Lots of fun.

The Germans and Finns tried to capture as many of these rifles as they could and then reissued them to their own troops. There was a real shortage of reliable semi autos on the battlefield. The German rifle of the time wasn't reliable. The Germans took back examples for their own weapons R&D along with their own manual for the SVT40 which they renamed the SIG 259r and the Sig 258r for the SVT38.

Here's a few pictures I previously saved from the internet.

This guy did well with the rifle but got robbed on the transportation.

I'm alaways amazed at how relatively light these rifles are - especially compared to other rifles of that time. The AVS+AVT must have been pretty devastating at the squad level - even if they weren't durable, they were the most portable automatic rifles available.
