Well kids I just discovered the problem. Here it is for any of the folks who were as stumped as I was.
You will remember I mentioned the color of the primer compound was pink, where the usual color for a CCI 250 was yellow. I didn't think much of it until I double checked the package this morning. The primers are in fact 350 Magnum PISTOL !!!!!!
WSS was at a very low inventory level (big suprise) when I went to get stocked up. The all knowing guy at the counter said they ony had a few left and not a full case like I wanted. He brought them back, 5 one hundred count packages, all taped together.
The loads had been completely safe in my rifle and I just couldn't figure it out.
Now I know! Be sure to check everything three times over! The packages for CCI 250 Mag rifle and 350 Mag pistol are indentical for color and design aside from the print which I took for granted until seeing this today.
We appologize for the interuption, we now continue with the regular scheduled programming......
