I had a primer get pierced today from some surplus ammo, really jammed up in the chamber good. Had to come home and hammer it out with an sks cleaning rod. Not even pliers would work. Whats the cause of this? Case looked fine when it came out except for the rim near primer that was gone.

Picture would help.

My assumption is that the round went over pressure forcing the primer out of the pocket against the firing pin causing it to pierce.

Hence the hard extraction.

As mentioned earlier may have been an issue with the ammo it may even be an issue with your gun.

At the time I was in a rush to get it fixed because I was unsure if the round was still live and I had no idea how I was going to clean the corrosive ammo while the barrel was jammed so I did't get any pics. I almost considered calling a local gunsmith when I couldn't get it out and letting them take care of it.

Green box surplus on stripper clips.

Is that a Czech surplus ammo? If so, I read some reviews that mentioned that the Czech ammo was very dirty and required a lot of cleaning after shooting. I'd be very suspicious about the quality of that ammo. So far, I've used only Chinese corrosive/non-corrosive and Russian corrosive surplus in my SKS and never ever had any problems.
Just for curiosity what is the year of production of your ammo?

I don't have the box anymore to see the year but I thought it was chinese stuff? The bullets copper plated casings are black with black primers if that helps. It is the most inaccurate surplus ammo I have ever used. Absolute garbage, After this Im sceptical to used anymore of it. Now that I think back this is the 3rd time in less then 500 rounds this has happened with it ( in 3 differnt guns ).

You'd better dump that ammo entirely. It looks like a pile of crap. I only buy Chinese and Russian 7.62x39mm ammo from Marstar Canada, Tradex Canada, Lever Arms, Westrifle and my local gun store Shooter's Choice (sponsor here). I've never had any problems with those retailers. In particular, I bought 3,000 rds of non-corrosive, Chinese export surplus from Lever Arms. Fantastic ammo. Very clean and very accurate in my SKS. 61/08 manufactured in 2008. Highly recommended.
