Pietta 1873 full power 44 mag loads

I have a Pietta Callahan model in 44mag.

It is a standard sized 1873 frame, conventional lockwork..as in 4 clicks and no transfer bar.
What is unique about it tho is it uses a Colt 1860 grip frame and an unfluted cylinder.
I have read that the steel used is stronger as well.

The gun has good timing, locks up tightly and has minimal end shake when locked up.

The unfluted cylinder I suppose affords more strength altho the steel spec is far more important here IMO...plenty of fluted 44mag guns out there doin fine.

The 1860 grip frame is an EXCELLENT choice for this gun tho.
Besides providing more real estate the angle superior for absorbing recoil...still allows it to roll as a single action revolver is designed to..but less so.
Also the 1860 is a much more suitable grip for shooting two handed.

This revolver is 6in length.....that and the unfluted cylinder make for a lil more heft and better balance.
It is a handsome piece, really nice blunig and fit/finish.

I shoot handloads of stout 44spl power mostly and some occasional full 44mags sparingly. I also plink at CAS style shooting using handloads at pretty much 44spl power.

This thing is very accurate, very comfortable to shoot and uniquely cool looking in my eyes.

I am on the hunt for a twin to create a brace of em'

Id post a pic but image hosting here..and the two photohandlers I have been using are entirely too painful... sorry :(

My Pietta 1873 44 mag is very punishing to shoot compared to my Ruger BH with regular factory loads... JP.
