Pietta base pin replacement

Just picked up a Pietta single action (Great Western II I believe it's called) from SFRC and overall I am very impressed with it. The one thing I do not like is the base pin, it is only notched on one side making aligning it very difficult and it is so tight it takes me 5 minutes to get it back in. I have had an Uberti in the past and it was way more smooth.

My question is, is it replaceable with the Uberti pins or is there another option in Canada? I would also prefer the single notch pin the newer Uberti's have. Other than that the gun is fantastic! Action is buttery smooth and it doesn't have that stupid 3 click hammer with the transfer bar like the new Uberti's.

Good question - I don't know about domestic options, but I've ordered from Belt Mountain previously, great service. I'd send them an email and ask if the ones they make for the Colt SAA will work.

You might also get by with chamfering the edges of the notch. Use fine emery cloth backed on a dowel.

When I bought mine the original owner told me it would come to me with a Colt basepin installed as well as the original in the box. Works perfectly and is much better than the Pietta pin. Don't know where he got it though. A friend copied the Colt pin on his lathe and recut his Pietta pins to match and they work great too.

A may keep my eye out for a colt base pin, don’t have access to a lathe so that’s not an option. Anyone know where I can find one?
