I have a Pietta 1860 Army that the #11 cap is to loose and the #10 is to tight and have heard the it is common to have to change the nipples to get these things to work right. I have been told that this is a common problem. As I never recieved a manual with the gun I have no idea what replacement nipple to use or thead size. Any suggestions?

You can buy replacement nipples from Wholesale sports, SIR, Dixie Gunworks etc. Pietta nipples are metric thread BTW. They are all the same thread size, I think. Check that the nipple hasn't been mushroomed from dry firing. That may be why the #10's won't fit. IMO, properly fitting caps are more important to avoid a chainfire than covering the ball with grease. The only chainfire I ever had came from the cap on the next chamber falling off.
From what I read, Nipples for Pittia are 6x.75 . Mairstar has them for Pittia , Uberti is souposed to be a differnt size , but I got a set of these and they fit my Uberti ( bought it used cyl. may have bein changed ? ). Number 10 cci caps seam to fit them fine. I'm new to black powder so defently not an expert.
