Pietta PPS-50

Are they well made?
What about accuracy? = to 10/22?

I would say the wood stock model is very well made, the synthtic seems... too plasticy. I was afraid I was going to break it just checking it out in the store.

As for accuracy, I can't really say. I had a hell of a time getting the iron sights adjusted, I finally gave up and mounted a red dot scope but didn't have a chance to take her out for a spin...

Two things to note with this rifle: The trigger pull is rather heavy and the iron sights are a royal pain in the arse...

What is wrong with the sights?

Its not so much that there is something "wrong" with them, the vertical adjustment is quick and easy, the horizontal on the other hand... In the time it takes to make a horizontal adjustment then fire a test shot, I could strip and clean the rifle. Its more of a hassle then a problem.

does ANYONE have a youtube video of one of these guns being field striped??

Do you need TOOLS?? Screw driver, hammer, hole punch etc?

Also, if I recal this gun is non restricted but is the gun it is modeled after (looks) prohibited by name?

I'd hate to buy one just to have the RCMP "remember" that they "mistakenly" classifed it as NR when it should have been prohibited as a varriant, etc.

The PPD, 38 or 40, is not a named prohib. These are 12.2 or 12.3 prohibited firearms, being either full auto or converted auto.
Have a look at the long list of named prohibs.

I have no idea if there is a semiauto commercial version of the PPD. Have never heard of one. It would be a long awkard gun with a 19" barrel.

This is surprising. that we can legally have a semi auto version of the PPD 40 in its original 7.62 x 25 but we have not had any imported (if there are any to import).

Well, at least we have a .22cal look alike ;b

And therein lies the problem. As far as I know, no one produces a semi auto only copy of the PPD-40. The amount of investment that it would take to produce new receivers and parts would not be worth it to a Canadian company (even if they sourced and used parts kits for some of it), and unless you also have 18.6 inch or longer barrels produced, the fact that the original barrels were 10 3/4 inches long would limit the market to restricted owners only.
