I agree with rodagra. If it's not shooting as well as it should, change ammo first. Even high end .22's won't shoot all ammo well. .22's are like that.
Go buy a box of as many brands as you can and try 'em. The cost per box of said ammo means nothing either. I'd be trying rifle target velocity ammo first though. Playing with the bedding won't help if the rifle doesn't like the ammo it's being fed.

Search this forum on bedding. I just did and got lots of good hits, one on different pillars.
Search for bedding on RimfireCentral as well. You might find one specifically for the 504.
The 504 is supposed to respond well to tweaks like bedding. Good thing since they don't have much of a reputation out of the box.

There's a whole series of articles about accurising the 504 in the last few months of Precision Shooting, if memory serves. You may want to subscribe and get the last 3 or 4 back issues. It ended up shooting amazing groups, frankly I was astounded they could shoot that well. FWIW - dan
