Pillow Ticking

It is what an old feather pillow is made of. The weave is very tight so the feathers do not poke through. You can get it at a fabric store or Walmart. I wash it before using, to get the starch out of it.

A main point is to get a 100% natural fiber...like coton...now days it may look like traditional pillow thicking,,,blue and white stipes but check for fabric content. I once did a visit to the local Bouclair with my caliper measuring thickness and checking content...the staff were helpful but wondering why one would gage the thickness!..

if needed contact me i have many long rolls =hundreds of feet long by 4 inch width.of pillow /matress ticking........ok fer patches or making old style slings powder horn straps or shat-ever...............new left overs strips from a matress /pillow factory. small $$ fee plus postage...

Thanks folks, I just picked up a meter of the stuff from fabric land for 4 bucks! Murphys oil soap and some water soluble cutting fluid and I'm ready to go! Now I need some washer fluid.. Was that supposed to be summer or winter fluid for that home made lubricant?

There are so may ways of making it. The one I am using now is:
4-TBLS alcohol
1 1/2-TBLS castor oil
1 1/2-TBLS witch hazel
1/2-cup water- or in the winter- window washer fluid

I just started using this. I got it from another forum, and so far the clean up is the fastest I have ever seen.

I also have used Ballistol, Murphys oil soap, and water, with good luck.

I use something that is called "MOOSE SNOT" for hunting. It is:
2-oz of beeswax
8-oz of castor oil
1-oz of Murphys
This also makes clean up at the end of the day, very quick.
