So I went to the range with some surplus ammo. Had a great day shooting but when I got home and tried to clean it, the pin that holds the upper hand guard on wont come out. Now before I take a hammer and a hole punch to this thing, has anyone ever had this happen to them? If so, is there a trick to getting it out? I've tried everything I can think of short of the old hammer/punch trick. I'll try anything at this point. Thanks...

Ive used the bottom of my magazines to take out stuck pins on vz 58s but thats just me , you can use a rubber mallet or wooden dowel with a hammer if you have any of those lying around if your afraid of marking up your gun.

I push mine in and out and twist it when it gets stuck. I can't figure out why It goes smoothly sometimes and sticks others. The twist sorts it out for me though

This happens to mine often. I just use something plastic that is smaller than the pin and give it a tap with a hammer/mallet, pops right out. Just don't hit it very hard to push the pin ALL the way out.

Never had it happen. What kind of handguard? could be pressure is making the pin harder to remove than it normally would be. Try pushing down on the handguard then removing it?

I think that is my only option at this point. I'm gonna go to crappy tire and get a rubber mallet tomorrow.

It's the black upper hard guard that came with a certain model. It looks cooler then the beaver puke!

Tried the twist and it just would not come out, I think it's hammer time.

using any cover other than the "beaver puke" will usually cause more force on the pin making it harder to remove..mine was fine until i put a fab cover on now it requires more force and sometimes just wants to stick. i use a metal hammer and a plastic piece of something i found on the floor and it works lol. as long as you dont smack it ridiculously hard it should be fine. one time at the range i used a wood stick with a point and a rock to tap it out.....
