I had a discussion the other day with several Milsurp owners/shooters regarding the legalities of pinned mags, possible value loss if/when it is done, and ways to do it, good and bad (lol). Looking for opinions, Pro and Cons alike. I for one think the law sucks, as most of our guns laws do, in our free country. But it is what it is, I guess. Let me know what you think on all three issues and we will see what people think and what methods they used.

If you can pin it inside without and cosmetic changes and it still looks the exact same. I cant see it doing much damage to value as a collector. Like their are sks rifles with rivets in the mag that have changed the appearance but there are also sks rifles with pins inside the mag well under the magazine follower hidden from sight and not changing the cosmetics of the gun by anything barely id say that would be the best option to aim for to not mess with any value. But since we all live in canada all mags are pinned and i doubt its going to make much difference to anyone here unless they are that picky. Also springfield m1a ten round mags have a removeable floor plate not welded and a small wood block that is not secured that pins it to five. So i guess the rules aren't that intense as long as you cant get more then five in? Just what ive noticed so far collecting

The definitive within the law interpretation is listed in the Criminal Code Regulations for magazines. BPT dig a little on the www government laws site, but the wording is at the tail end of the text.

As I recall the text was explicit that the body of the magazine is the part that has to be limited, not the follower. Yes, there are a lot of long legged followers out there that were passed by Customs. But from what I read, they don't meet the test.
