Does anybody still sell metal AR mags that are riveted? Years ago I had a gen 2 Tavor and had several riveted mags with it. they all worked as well as you could expect. I just bought a new x95 and it came with a metal mag that was crimped, what a piece of crap... can't load 5 rounds in it. if you do it jams into the crimping and won't work. I'm ok with buying some more mags for the thing but honestly not interested in crimped ones. I've done some looking but nobody really advertises how the mags are kept at 5 rounds. any thoughts?

I use ASC/RRA brand 10 round crimped metal magazines in my X95 no problem loaded to 10 rounds

I dont know what brand of crimped mags you have, but the ones I have all work fine in my X95. I prefer them over 10 round short mags, and 5 round pinned mags. Although all the AR mags I personally own 5 or 10 rd crimped or riveted all work in my X95 perfectly.

Hard to find mags these days so I dont have any suggestions where to order as every place I know is out of stock

Just a thought - have you tried a pinned polymer mag like a PMAG 5/30? Reason I ask is it may not necessarily be the crimped magazine with the X95. My X95 doesn't seem to consistently load (from a closed bolt) any 5-round pinned mag loaded to 5. When I load to 4, it is no problem. So I guess I'd encourage you to maybe explore this before having your heart set on a pinned mag. You may find you are having the same problem. My X95 only consistently loads a full 5-round pinned mag if I have the bolt lock / bolt catch in the open position. Maybe you will have better luck than me, but it seems this has been reported online more than a few times by various X95 owners.

The X95 does require some wiggle room in the mags for the closed bolt. Mags pinned to 5.5 not a true 5 only
Pinned mags you can move the rivet to another location a little lower if required
With a crimped mag your only option to adjust would be taking some material off the follower to allow it to go down a little more but not allow 6 rounds in still

This is good info guys, thank you. Are all new mags getting crimped?

It seems like lately (within the past year), X95s have been coming with two types of magazines, both metal and crimped. There is the good Duramag/C Products Defense one (that is what it is supposed to come with and it's sealed in retail packaging) - and then earlier this year, there were a number of reports of X95s coming with some cheap Norinco like mags that were wrapped in brown paper - that appears to be a distributor issue (not store level) and there haven't been reports on it then with good magazines being swapped out somehow with crummy ones.

In terms of all new mags in general - there are many PMAG 5/30s in circulation and many widely available at our sponsors. Those are polymer and pinned (depending on your vendor it can be pinned on the side or spine). The C Products Defense Duramags that are metal are crimped. The LAR15 metal mags come in 10-round configurations and work well in the X95. Lancer AR type mags are polymer and pinned. There are others out there, some crimped, some pinned.

irunguns normally carries pinned metal mags. They're currently out of stock in the country but chances are they'll bring some more in during their next import.

you could always order them off their US site but personally i'd wait until they restock here to avoid paying the import fee.
