Hey guys. Ive got a question for my buddy. He just bought a new SR22 and in wondering how to remove the pinned stock to replace it with a new magpul CTR. Anyone know? Thanks
Your best option is to get a new buffer tube. After removing the pin your magpul stock will not be adjustable. The buffer tube on it only has a screw hole instead of the slotted rail.
Yeah I kinda thought you would need a whole new tube assembly. Seems odd that ruger would even import a fixed stock to canada on the SR, being that it's modular and people wanna customize these things as soon as they get them.
The pinned SR22 stocks were the first ones exported to Canada a few years ago and there were no flash hiders either. These were US regulations that were later changed. We tried to unpin the first stocks and found it to be very difficult and since you are missing the extra parts required to make it work...your better off to replace the whole buffer tube and stock(minus the buffer and spring that comes in most kits). Phil.
I just bought one of these SR22's with a pinned stock. I replaced the buffer tube with another mil-spec tube and then the stock. The tube that I removed has no adjustability whatsoever unless you would do some drilling into the tube itself.
Prophet River Arms sold it as a "6 position adjustable pinned stock" however the only true part of that statement is that it is pinned. Adjustable it is not.
Thanks guys. My buddy ended up replacing the tube and stock with another. He had also bought one of those "pinned 6 position" stocks from prophet river.
