Does anybody have any experience with the plastic Tapco mags that are pinned 5/20 rounders?

Are they lanced horizontaly? Blocked? Riveted? Case dimpled?

Just wondering. I have seen AR mags dimpled, M305 mags blocked and VZ-58 mags riveted.

I have one thats pinned with a regular rivet. Sad thing is, it is pinned to 4.5 rounds.

Take apart mag. Drill out rivet. Put 5 rounds in above follower. Slide into mag with no spring or baseplate. Measure where 5.5 would be. Make sure to take into account diameter of new rivet. Drill hole. Put follower and spring in mag. Rivet through new hole. Put baseplate on and go enjoy your 5 rounds. Easy as pie!

I always thought 305 mags were just pinned. How do they block them?

Here is what I have.

M305 mag block

I took the 5/20 mag that came with my 2007 Norc apart for "maintenance" on the spring. Upon removing the floor plate I saw that there is what I would call a shark-fin tack welded to the floor plate that keeps the follower from going below the level for 5 rounds.

Luckily no Blackhawk helicopters swooped in to arrest me while my magazine was unblocked due to the floor plate being off.

I put it all back together the way I found it so it's all legal.

The follower in these Tapco's is plastic. Once you remove the rivit, you can shave the bottom edges of the follower off a bit and and reinstall it and use a new rivit to rivit it again.

Just hope that no Blackhawk helicopters swoop in to arrest you while your mag in unpinned for 2 minutes.
