was just out hunting gophers and im having a really good time with my 2506 and 17hmr. Took a shot at a close one with the 17 when pop not bang pop the dinks at federal forgot to put powder in the bullet
now i got a vshock stuck in the barrel
oh well sh!t happens i guess

I had the same thing happen to me with a 22 Hornet and I was a long way from town.
I pulled a head from another round with pliers and carefully loaded the headless cartridge into the rifle with the barrel pointed upwards. I then dropped it horizontal and fired the shot into a tree. Thereby clearing the barrel.

Promer pops and squibs are far too common in rimfire do too the high degree of mass production. Though, I don't get too many with federal loads myself.

I hate to be nit picky but I wouldn't really want to be trying that Jim Bell. If that bullet is halfway down the barrel the pressure curve would be way different then when seated in the cartridge so you could easily get excessive pressures. I don't think there are any gophers worth wrecking my gun or myself.

True, but if it's jsut stuck in the throat you're probably OK. Although I would tip out a bit of the powder just to be safe.

This used to be a common trick of accuracy shooters in the early years - insert a bullet into the rifling, then load a charged cartridge behind it.
