Ive been doing some load development with Varget powder and 55 gr Hornady VMax and 55 gr Berger Varmint bullets.
Ive been using 25gr Varget and have been doing very well. The OAL suggest 2.235 in the T/C pistol section and 2.260 for the same in the rifle section. I deceided to test my chamber so i can seat the bullet as close to the grooves as possible. I hit the grooves at 2.312 and seated the bullets at 2.310.

The chamber closed with no resistance. I will paying attention to the casings after each round for pressure signs.

This is the target i shot a couple weeks ago, so far I have found the Hornady V-max have produced tighter groups.

What do you guys think, will the groups be just as good or a bit better with the bullet seated longer?

I will also make adjustments to hit the bullseye.

how do you like that gun? slightly off topic, I was just looking at the 223 handguns, how does ballistics compare to a 9mm and a 50AE? I would think the bullet would have a much flatter trajectory

As for your question regarding a difference in OAL ... only tiral and error will tell you for sure - Every gun has it's own "sweet spot", though most seem to be somewhere in the ".010 or less" range from the lands.

Looks like you have a good load already - stick with it, try out a few different lengths and watch what your groups do, then tweak your powders again once you find your gun's preferred seating depth.
