I always try and support Canada first with retail purchases . But I’m curious as when visiting the USA
what are you legally allowed to bring back across the border into Canada ?

Not much. No individual parts or optics for hand guns and rifles. That must all be exported from the States. You can pick up revolver speedloaders, cleaning supplies, targets and what not.

No actual "firearm parts", if that's what you're asking. That includes all internal parts, obviously, but also magazines (and mag parts), grips, and sights.

It's not obvious if you're new to this stuff: The problem is actually exporting from the USA rather than importing to Canada. The US has tight controls over what they allow to leave the country. ITAR is what it's called, I think. You may ask "When was the last time you were stopped on the US side when coming back to Canada?" It's never happened to me, but I'm not ever going to spin that wheel.

As above, "accessories" like holsters, weaponlights, speedloaders and cleaning supplies are not subject to these restrictions (last time I checked!).

Okay Thank You ! Novice to Restricted Firearms hence all the questions about them ! I have 3 pistols waiting to find there way to me Transfers, where are they , LOL !

Okay so Canada doesn’t have an issue importing but the U.S. has a problem exporting . So you buy some firearm parts from a retailer when your in the States and you bring them into Canada . How would the U.S. know about that ? As you get checked coming back into Canada?

its illegal

the us government can do checks google ITAR people have gotten fines in the $100,000.00 + range and decades in jail bare min you will be banned from the us which includes its airspace which really cuts any travel options....

use a licensed us exporter and as long as the items are legal in canada your GTG its not worth the risk

some lite reading https://www.pmddtc.state.gov/ddtc_public?id=ddtc_public_portal_itar_landing

You can think about the parts for a long period of time and wait
Or, you can pay an importer and wait until you receive them, unfortunately, this is one of the only ways to obtain some kinds of parts from America

I as been stopped and check twice just before crossing the border to Canada. They block the regular road to the border and force everyone to go on a secondary check point or just stop the traffic to the border and search the cars right there with dogs and everything!

You can order from US suppliers if they are licenced to ship north, I have bought parts, but not for a while now.
Last was springs and grips.

Not worth trying to buy parts when down, unless you know what is OK to bring back.
Canada is just interested in their money grab for non restricted parts, ie , no over capacity mags.
Legal to import ammo into Canada, but not legal to export out of the US.
