Pistol as gift?

Ok My question is IF I wanted to give a pistol as a gift to somebody (yes they have a PAL) Do I need to register it in my name when buying and transfer it over to them when "gifted"? Or Can I just buy it in their name?

On a side note... looking for a cheap pistol (not .22) any recommendations? Semi-auto.

If you are buying it at a local shop you both frequent, pay for it, put his name on it, put a picture in the card and tell him to go do the paper work OR, you could get his pal number from him, ie comparing numbers some evening, buy it and register it straight in his name. Lots of ways to do it. Or you could buy it in your name, have it ready at the party, give it to him and then transfer to him, not a big deal any which way you decide to go.

They will need a rpal.
