Hi, l'm interested to know what everyone's using, and why, pics.
l'm looking for either a pistol bag, or pistol sock for my pistols while in my gun safe, and gear bag for back and forth to the range.
Suggestions, can't seem to find any on here, local, for sale.

Dillon Range bag, comes with a pistol bag inside that is removable. Large enough to carry everything you need, lots of internal compartments, and durable. Also has double zippers so can be locked.

Just my opinion, but I wouldn't keep them in a "sock" while in your safe. Fabric will attract moisture. Not a good combo if you have any humidity issues at all. Of course when you transport them use a case, but not in the safe.

I made wooden shelves for my safe. Bought a couple of long planks of the right width, had them cut to the desired lengths in the store, then drilled holes in the corners and fed threaded stock through, holding them in place with nuts and washers. A four inch gap between shelves leaves just enough room for the guns to clear even when on an angle because of the trigger locks, but allows a LOT of shelves in a rifle-high cabinet. Anywhere from one to four guns fit on a shelf. Foam wrap-around insulation keeps the guns safe from the sharp threads and the wood is left unfinished so varnish will not affect the bluing.

Not pretty but, since it is inside a locked black cabinet, who needs it to be? Sorry, no pictures. No camera and, as of last week, only a small gun safe and two guns left.

Fabric on it's own does not attract moisture. However it is best to ensure that the material used as a sock or bag is breathable so any moisture in the gun will easily evaporate and move through the cover.

I'm in the same boat with a rather crowded gun cabinet. To get around this I've added cup hooks to the upper door and inner walls and made up some lightly padded "gun cozys" that have hanging loops on them to let me hang the handguns up high in the cabinet where the long guns do not use much room.

Mine are sewn from a heavy grade denim outer layer with a fleece inner padding and some use a zip while others use a velcro flap to close them. This option takes up a lot less room than the padded gun cases you see for sale yet provide easily enough padding for transport. I tend to take about 5 or 6 at a time to the range in a larger locked box. They all fit nicely. But a regular foam layered gun case to transport this many would either be large or I'd have to use two or three cases.

See if you can find someone that can run a sewing machine. The best part is the price. Find the material on sale and you can make them for about 2 to 3 dollars each including the zip.

I put mine in a Homak pistol cabinet when stored at home; they sit on the foam inside with a desicant cartirdge to keep things dry. When I take them to the range, I take them in a $20 Wal Mart lockable aluminum tool box (slots inside fit Beretta mags perfect) with the guns in Allen soft pistol cases inside.

I keep all of my handguns in a "retro-fitted" long gun cabinet. I usually put one or 2 of those moisture eater packs in my cabinet just in case.
This is an old pic.... the config is a little different now, but you get the idea.....

This is how I transport them to the range. (With trigger locks, of course!)

How you do it is up to you, this is just what I did.

Good luck,
Cheers!
