Yes and I got his .44Mag Rossi. Man it is smooooth. I am just waiting for moulds for the gun then it is off to the range.

Now if he would part with a 16" or 20" in .45 Colt later this summer....:D

If you want a heavy hitting levergun in a pistol cartridge, then a Marlin 1894 in 44 Mag will do the job. I had one once ...... light, fast and will take anything you are likely to run into here in North America.

The .44mag/spl lever guns are cool. I load .44 spl with 200 gr RNFP and shoot gophers with it. Has about the same trajectory as a .22LR, but way more fun.

Not for the gophers.:D I have a 245 LSWC mould on its way for mine. I'll have to head for home to get some gopher hunting in.

Hey I have a Q for those of you who have a lever in .44 mag, since I've been dithering about this for a while now. Most of them seem to have a really slow spin rate (twist) and I'm wondering why this is, and does it seem to be a problem? I shoot both .44 mag and .357 mag in revolvers, and I'm stumped about which would be the better lever round. The twist rate in the .357s is a lot faster.....

If you're mostly plinking get a .357. If you might want to use it for deer you're way better off with a .44 or .45.
 
I have shot groundhogs with lead .38 SWC reloads in a .357 lever and it was so much fun...

Like... "range me".... ok.. up three feet and POP.... up 4 feet and POP.. hahah got it.

sure the varmint rifles can do it farther and flatter, but it was fun.
