Pistol calibre bullet puller

There is another thread about an inertia (hammer style) puller that set off a primer and some peoples reluctance to use them. Collet pullers like the ones from RCBS and Hornady are great and fast once set up however they don't always work with pistol bullets. I had a bunch of 45ACP rounds to pull and no matter how I adjusted my collet puller, all I managed to do was mangle the bullets. I switched to my hammer puller and settled in for an afternoon of bashing my workbench. I was left with a sore arm but and about 120 bullets that I was able to reload.
Unfortunately, you will probably end up using an inertial puller. The chance of an incident is VERY unlikely but to be safe, just make sure you use ear and eye protection. It is also a good idea to let the rest of the family know what you are up to, saves annoying interruptions. :)

pistol cartridges are using so many shapes of bullets that a collet puller is often unable to grip the bullet
as such, the only "bulletproof" option is the inertial puller
I have both and the 9mm collet hasn't recouped its cost to date.

You need a piece of tube larger than your ram and some sharp pair of pliers or wire cutter/stripper.

As said above, today's bullets shapes in 9mm can be a pita.

grip-n-pull com Calibers 9mm etc...

I end up with a bunch of random hand loaded 9mm & .40s&w every year, plus any of my own pistol ammo I end up pulling apart and I use a rcbs inertia puller. It works well, have a collet puller but the inertia puller works the best on various pistol cartridges. Plus I’m able to reuse the pulled bullets.
