Pistol Cases - Show us your layout

I start the corners with a finely serrated kitchen knife and use an electric bread knife to do the cutting.

This kinda guy here.

That's pretty much what I use, combined with a small utility knife. I buy my foam at The Foam King. You have your choice of density. They make it the exact dimension of the case.

These are all great. Hey, brewster and grapeshot, don't things move around alot while moving you cases?

My stuff are all enclosed in rubber, no movement, PLUS a lot lighter than the wooden boxes, I have 3 of them, after lugging them around for a while, I opted for the cheap & lite CTC tool case.

Nope. The dividers keep everything nicely separated. Custom cut foam is only really necessary if you're expecting your guns to be dropped off a truck or maybe handled by Air Canada. :d

Hey IaL, that's a great layout, especially for getting a bunch of pistols to the range at once. What's the approximate size of that case? Also, are the barrels that almost touch separated by anything?

Well, the measuring tape says that the case is 24" by 18" and 11" tall. I cut out the dividing foam from a few spots to accommodate longer barrels, so those spots don't have anything physically separating opposing pistols, but the big foam block on the underside of the lid does a good job of holding them all snugly and forced apart, so they don't bang into each other.

I use a Pelican 1600 case I bought through Wolverine Supplies. I simply lay my handguns in flat, and remove no foam. It ensures no movement of the guns due to snug fit, and should you sell or replace guns, you are not restricted to specific gun slots. Should you travel, laying them flat will provide maximum padding & protecton going through the abuse of an 'airport experience.' With pressurized control & all, you get what you pay for. Pelican cases are the best, & your gun deserves to be protected..... because it doesn't even make a good paper weight, broken.

The 1600 case comfortably holds 4 guns, but you could get a couple more in there.
