Pistol for better half?

The thing I find with women though is that they have a problem loading most semi-auto magazines and then chambering the round (the weight of the recoil spring is too great.)

So, if I were to recommend a pistol for your better half other than a the Ruger .22lr... it'd be a Revolver. Easy to load, easy to pull the hammer back with thumb for a nice easy SA trigger pull.

(The crappy thing is we can only buy the long barrels here, otherwise a snubby .38spl would be the ultimate chick gun)

:)

alright well, I figure picking up a 22 wouldnt be a bad idea. we'd probably both get a lot of use out of it.

Still gonna keep my eye out for a nice 9mm.

Who carrys Steyr pistols?
Anyone have experience with BUL cherokee?

My wife also really liked the 9mm Tok, with it's slim grip, which was her favorite pistol before I sold it.

However, she currently shoots a .357 and likes that quite a bit.

If you're thinking .22, although I'd prefer the 9mm myself I think that the Walther P22 is definitely ###y, and apparently works well for us more petite gunnutz. :)

When i owned a pistol in 9mm the girlfriend usedto shoot it, since then I've traded it off on a 1911 in 45 she says the 1911 is too heavy and because the bullets are bigger they scare her lol.

whats a good 9mm that is fairly light and fits nicely in smaller hands?
Ummm, why don't you tell us what pistol you used to own and then we can just recommend that one? ;) Your girlfriend liked shooting it so just go with what you know!

FN Browning

My girl had an FN/Browning 1922 in .380, which she liked, but found the recoil a bit sharp - would end up with a sore hand after an afternoon out with it. She now has a Glock 17 which she really likes... more powerful, but she says it's easier on her hand. Go figure.

Who carries Steyr pistols?

Note that Steyr pistols can sometimes be in short supply. The ones imported are made specifically for the Canadian market. Their barrels are a couple of millimeters longer, just to get them over 105mm.

As per my previous post, Baby Eagle or similar CZ is also a good choice.

A 22 is almost always a good choice, especially if you have more than one pistol.

I would have suggested a Baby Eagle becasue they are relatively small (they fit my girlish hands nicely) and they are all steel so it should dampen the recoil a bit.
The all steel CZ 75 SP-01 also has relatively low recoil, fits my small hands as well.

Yep, Steyr makes a 106mm barrel version just for Canadian gun owners, so you don't have to spend extra $300 for a longer barrel that doesn't even match the slide finish...

I was surprised how small the gun was the first time I saw it. Size, egros, trigger and price made the decision an easy one ;)
