An interesting read. Not being an NFA firearm means an export permit would be obtainable for Joe Average. Note also the last comment about overall length. :)

Nice... but I prefer the stocks the way they are (would like maybe a bit shorter length stock though). I can manipulate the slide release and tang safety easily on the 590 (with the std style stock) w/o moving my right hand at all.

No doubt.....I think the idea is to import them for now and stock them later....

For PGO birdshead is the way to go....I'd love a full stock short 37 though.

Here's one at 15.5inches,

Just thinking aloud here, but if the firearm is does not fall under the sbs/NFA rules than they should ok to export it...

And I could put a proper stock on it and finally have that 14" mossy 590 I've always wanted!

Hmmmmm

I agree with G22...getting to the controls on a Mossberg with a pistol grip may not easily happen.

It does say MAY be deemed, so that doesn't necessarily mean it will be. I wonder if the fact that the pump requires both hands to operate would make a difference, like the mare's leg, which requires both hands to cycle the action.

i got the same warning as sargeant slaughter from the same lady Valerie about putting a pistol grip on a shotgun with a sixteen inch barrel or shorter.they meaning the R.C.M.P. WOULD DEEM IT TO BE A HANDGUN. i personally do not think it fits the definition of a handgun as a shotgun is not designed, altered or intended to to be aimed and fired by the action of one hand. their definition in my opinion has more to do with handguns being converted to rifles and staying restricted . having said that i do not intend to go to court to find out and will be leaving a full stock on my short barrel shotgun . if you lost this case it would set a precedent and any guns you owned would be gone, you would have a criminal record and a large legal bill.

A pump action shotgun cannot be operated with one hand, for one shot that makes the way too forward heavy gun fly out of your hand perhaps.
Besides how can you operate the action with one hand?
Obviously not intended for one handed operation, therefore not a handgun.
The 16" barrel rule has no basis in canadian law.
26" of overall length is the only number I've seen with any significance.
