pistol grip for maverick 88

I will also add that pistol grips are next to useless in any situation other than looking like a tough guy! ;)

I have one, and with anything but birdshot it is a ##### to hang onto, and getting shots on target is a whole other story.

I originally bought it for camping, home defence applications, but after messing around with it at the range decided to just cut my stock shorter to shoulder quickly.

Practice more, you'll find they can be quite controllable but its a whole new ball game to learn. You use muscles that normally arent used for shooting. But to the OP I think hical.ca has the hogue tamer grips for Mossberg 500 that will work, and its not much more than a Mossberg factory PG. Supposed to help reduce felt recoil too. *Edit* I should ask, are you looking for a pistol grip or a pistol gripped full stock?

I don't care what you say, you will never get the same recoil control, and/or as quick a follow up shot with a pistol grip.

I understand you can aim just fine, and control the gun as well, but when compared to a full stock they are not even close.

I would never trust my life, or others lives to such an inferior tool!

Like I said, if your dicking around at the range and want to look cool then by all means it will do that in spades, but if you have any intentions of practicing to better your skills for either home, or wilderness defence stick to a full stock! A full stock with the addition of a PG is an even better option.

It should also be mentioned that the Maverick is about as light as a 12 guage gets so it is even harder to control.

Bottom line, have fun, but know the limits of the tools you are working with.

I have the ATI top folder and it has a great feel in the hand but you cheek kinda takes a beating if you are shooting 3" mags. The factory pistol grip is severe punishment on your palm when shooting it, I wouldnt recommend the factory one.

I used to have a Maverick 88 with a pistol grip. Basically, I would just say "don't bother."

It's a cheesy piece of junk that's painful to shoot. Keep the shoulder stock. I went through about three pistol grips because they kept breaking off from the recoil! Then I bought a shoulder stock and wouldn't ever want just a pistol grip again.

However, they're only $10 or so. It's not an expensive lesson to learn. Just don't give away your shoulder stock or anything like that! You'll want it later...

Ooops, saw your later post that you want a full pistol grip stock... Yes, that's a good idea. The plain pistol grip sucks, but you probably know that.
